What are Cuts + Lacerations?
A cut refers to a wound where the skin is just separated, without any dirt or foreign object remaining in the wound, typically caused by a sharp object such as a knife or piece of broken glass and where none of the skin is missing.
How to treat Cuts + Lacerations?
Most bleeding can be stopped with direct pressure and time. Cleaning with a gentle soap and water or with Prontosan® will help reduce the chance of bacterial infection. Apply the adhesive suture strips to close wound edges and cover with a polyurethane film dressing to avoid bacterial contamination.
Directions For Use
- Wash hands before and after applying the sutures.
- Clean the wound area with gauze and clean water or Prontosan® and dry gently.
- Wait for the wound to stop bleeding.
- Apply one strip without tension, starting in the middle; pull in skin edges as close as possible.
- Use the other strips to close the wound if necessary.
- Cover the wound and the strips with the cover film dressing.
To apply the cover film dressing
- Remove the printed release paper and place over the sutured wound area.
- Peel away the two side tabs.
- Remove the top flaps following the arrows.
The dressing should be left in place until the cut is closed.
Do not use on an infected wound unless recommended by a physician.
If the wound bleeds or is swollen or painful within 7 days, seek medical advice.
People with Diabetes should consult a physician before using the dressing.
If you notice signs of infection on the wound site such as pain, redness, swelling or heat, you should seek medical advice.
