What is GOPO®:

GOPO® is the key compound of the Rosehips used in Rose-Hip Vital, (Rosa Canina) and the active compound which acts as a natural anti-inflammatory. GOPO® was discovered seven years ago in Denmark and significant levels can only be obtained if the Rosehips are dried using a special patented process unique to Rose-Hip Vital. A brief history of Rose-Hip Vital™:

The Science behind Rose-Hip Vital™:

Rose-Hip Vital has been the subject of numerous unique successful scientific trials, including a significant new study published in the February 2010 edition of medical journal Phytomedicine which has shown that Rosehip may be effective for controlling some of the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis. One of the most significant is a randomised, double-blind placebo controlled trial study published in the medical journal Scandinavian Journal of Rheumatology, 2005, showing that 82% of OA patients reported a reduction in pain after three weeks of treatment with a Rosehip powder. The research also showed that pain was alleviated to an extent that there was a significant reduction in the usage of traditional painkillers. Furthermore, the study found that after a three month period there was increased joint mobility, reduced joint stiffness on waking, better management of joint pain, relief from Arthritic pain and even improved sleep when affected by joint pain and discomfort.

February 2010  - Rosehip has been the subject of a significant new study published in the medical journal Phytomedicine  -  Rosehip herbal remedy in patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis – a randomised controlled trial  - which has shown that patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis may benefit from additional treatment with Rosehip powder with Galactolipid (GOPO®).

September 2009 – another significant development was a meta-analysis presented at OARSI (World Congress on Osteoarthritis) by R Christensen - ‘Efficacy of Glucosamine Hydrochloride or specialised Rosehip Powder in Osteoarthritis Patients: An Indirect Comparison Meta-Analysis’. Conclusion:  Based on available RCTs it was evident that glucosamine hydrochloride had no effect on pain in OA patients compared to placebo. The patented Rosehip preparation tested in RCTs showed a statistical and clinically-significant effect compared to placebo. We conclude that based on the available evidence from meta-analyses, an indirect comparison showed the specialized Rosehip powder to be more efficacious than glucosamine hydrochloride - reducing pain in osteoarthritis patients.
