Travellers Diarrhoea (TD) is the number one health problem in international travel in terms of frequency and economic impact, affecting up to half of travellers to high-risk areas such as Africa, Asia and South America.
Anadis has developed a natural biopharmaceutical medicine that actually reduces the risk of Travellers Diarrhoea (TD). The product, called Travelan (AUST L 106709), contains a natural product obtained from dairy cows. Travelan has undergone medical clinical trials in the US and Europe and has shown up to 90% protection against the bacteria that causes Travellers' Diarrhoea, enterotoxigenic E. coli (ETEC).
Travelan reduces your risk of getting TD rather than having to treat the symptoms after the condition has begun. Travelan has been shown in medical clinical trials to significantly decrease the risk of TD and to decrease the symptoms of minor gastrointestinal disorders.
Travelan is made from colostrum; harvested from Australian dairy cows that have been immunised with a patented vaccine that was designed to produce very high levels of antibodies (specific proteins that bind to the bacteria) against the major common strains of E. coli that cause TD.
Colostrum is the antibody-rich milk produced from cows during the first 24 hours after giving birth. Colostrum, a wonder of the natural world, is produced by all mammals including humans; it transfers a mothers antibodies to her new born conferring immunity to a range of disease causing pathogens.
It is estimated that up to 40% of the world's millions of travellers succumb to TD from ETEC infection (through food and drink) each year. The current treatment is to take an anti-spasmodic following symptoms of infection (diarrhoea, nausea & cramps) or, in severe cases, antibiotics. Travelan however, transfers antibodies to boost a bodys immunity to the bacteria that cause TD.
With Travelan, travellers do not have to expose themselves to the serious and debilitating effects of TD.
Travelan (AUST L 106709) is listed on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) and is available over the counter at Australian pharmacies, beginning with Melbourne in October 2004.
Travellers simply take a Travelan tablet with meals, immediately before and then during their trip.

Who Should take Travelan?
As all travellers are susceptible to TD anyone travelling can benefit from taking Travelan. While travellers can contract TD anywhere they travel some countries present a higher risk than others.
