Directions For Use

Brush thoroughly at least twice a day or as directed by your dental professional. Do not swallow. Rinse with a small amount of water. Not recommended for children 6 years or less. Colgate recommends specially formulated Colgate children's toothpaste. Up to 12 hours of protection against bacteria with 4 weeks continuous use.

For children under 6 years, Colgate recommends specially formulated Colgate children's toothpaste.

Store below 30°C.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Colgate total original tastes a bit stronger (more pepperminty) than the usual Colgate that I usually use but it leaves a pleasant, fresh taste in your mouth. I love the easy to use flip top lid. It claims to be a tooth whitener but I haven’t used it long enough to really notice a difference. It doesn’t feel abrasive at all like some other whitening toothpastes which is a good thing. You only have to use a small amount of the toothpaste for it to do a really good job. Overall, I thought Colgate Total Original lives up to the high expectations I have for a toothpaste from a top brand like Colgate.

But the recent formula change has introduced a lingering peppery menthol aftertaste that’s really unpleasant. Toothpaste isn’t a product that needs constant reinvention, like shoes or phones. People don't need to constantly be re-convinced to keep buying it either; we choose one we like and generally stick with it. Yes, improve the formulation, especially as better active ingredients are found, but don't mess with the flavor; the single most noticeable thing about anything that goes in your mouth. I didn't think I (or anyone else) had a strong opinion on toothpaste of all things...but I have changed toothpaste until the "original" comes back...

Rated 1 out of 5 by Ulcer Boy from DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Inflamed Lips with a mouth full of ulcers Stay away from this new recipe. I blitzed my mouth using this for a week until I realised it was my new tube of the new recipe causing it all. For context I was having: - Swollen lips in the morning - Mouth full of ulcers... mainly around the tongue - Difficulty easting and speaking I stopped using this toothpaste for a few days just to be sure and the swelling left and my sores started healing. Feel like there should be a lawsuit pending with this one, and after looking around of forums it is certainly not a handful of people having this reaction. Be better Colgate, you just lost a customer.

I've tried others here and there and nothing makes my teeth feel cleaner than the original paste. Just bought a tube a week ago and noticed the colour and consistency of the paste was off - it's more gelatinous, more like a viscous fluid than a paste. Absolutely awful texture and taste. I don't know what to do now - start trying other brands I guess? I really hope I don't have to look for a new toothpaste and that Colgate will bring the original back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Tonynot9 from No all as it seems [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I thought it was promising to read "antibacterial 24 hours, then on closer inspection you need to continually brush x2 daily for 4 weeks for that to be a true statement.. sure I get it but anyone would initially believe it's an immediate effect and give 24 hour protection. So really is it only 12 hour protection if you brush twice a day?? With that said it had a smooth texture and not a bad taste that leaves my mouth feeling fresh. I regularly use colgate total 12 and the smell is a little overbearing. However this product has a good smell and is alot less intense.

I used to love how refreshing Colgate Total was, but the new version tastes like expired toothpaste, and left my mouth feeling incredibly unpleasant. I've been using Colgate exclusively for over 30 years, but now that I've run out of my last tube of the original formula, I've had to change brands. :(

I've used Colgate my whole life but if all toothpastes in the Colgate range have the new formula, I guess I'll be changing toothpaste brand.

Colgate Total 12 Original Antibacterial Fluoride Toothpaste is amazing! The flavor while bushing is not to strong, and when I finished brushing my teeth I didn't feel like all the saliva had been sucked from my mouth but hours later my mouth still felt clean and fresh. Using this twice a day has given me a real sense of security. I haven't been worried about bad breath and my mouth just feels so fresh. I will defiantly be continuing to use Colgate Total 12 Antibacterial Fluoride Toothpaste and I will be getting it for the rest of the family as well. Amazing!
