Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't do anything! I have used this Exfoliating skin brightener a few times now with no results. When I put it on my skin it feels prickly and stingy. It says on the back of the bottle that if you have sensitive skin to wash it off after 1 minute which is what I do but I do not see any results or any changes to my skin whatsoever. Total waste of money in my opinion. I will continue to use it because I spent money on this product and hope that I notice some sort of improvements but I'm not counting on it. Don't waste your money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clearer, brighter skin Prior to using John Plunkett’s SuperBright Exfoliating Skin Brightener I don’t think I’ve ever used such a strong product on my face so I was very wary and followed the instructions carefully. My skin is not at all sensitive, however I do have fine lines and slight pigmentation. The first time I applied the product I was expecting slight tingling but there was absolutely nothing so I left the product on all night after applying a moisturiser over the top of it. I awoke the next morning to brighter, clearer and smoother skin. Even though the product spreads easily enough I find one pump is not enough for my face and neck so I’ve had to use two pumps to ensure I cover the whole area. I initially used the exfoliator every third night for a few weeks which produced the brightest and clearest skin I had seen for years. I’ve now been using the serum for five months and I find using it once a week is enough for my skin. Not only do I love this product but it is so affordable.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Intensive peel, proceed with caution I do like the John Plunkett Super Cosmeceuticals as they use effective active ingredients with percentages disclosed. This is a water-based acid serum containing a very high 25% of glycolic acid, which is an AHA with a small molecule size that penetrates the skin more quickly than other AHA's. AHA's exfoliate the top layer of dead skin cells, breaking their bond to reveal the younger, brighter cells underneath. I tested the pH of the formula with basic litmus paper, and the pH seems to be just under 4, which is a pH that acids work well at. That's one tick from me for an effective formulation. Even though I am not new to acids, this is the highest percentage of any AHA's that I've used. I have some mild sensitivity and can react to some products. For me this serum tingled like crazy upon application the first few times (many days apart) I used it. Not wanting to risk acid burn, I rinsed it off after minutes. However, my skin is able to tolerate it if I buffer it with toner and moisturiser first. It's not ideal to have to buffer it first, changing the pH of the skin, but unfortunately for me that's the only way to leave it on overnight. I did have bright skin the next day, but I can't say that it was noticeably better than my other regular, lower-strength exfoliants. One thing to note is that the instructions say "Avoid Retinol, acid based or exfoliating products for at least 2 days.". So this will interfere with your regular skincare routine that involves retinol. Not so much a loss for not using other exfoliating products as you're already exfoliating using this. As I'm not able to tolerate direct application of this product, it's not a repurchase for me. Having said that, I still think the ingredients are good and if your skin is pretty tolerant, it's still worth a try.
